Senior Engineer- Electrical

Role Purpose

The Senior Engineer - Electrical for Pellet Plant will be responsible for overseeing the electrical engineering functions in a Pelletizing Plant. This role involves ensuring the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems that support the plant's operations. The Senior Electrical Engineer will guide a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and efficiency standards. The role requires technical expertise in electrical systems, plant operations, and a deep understanding of the steel industry.

 

Accountabilities & Activities

Key Activities

  1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  •  Oversee the electrical design, planning, and implementation of electrical systems for the Pellet plant, including power distribution, control systems, lighting, and grounding.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams (mechanical, civil, and process engineers) to ensure integrated electrical systems are optimized for plant performance.
  • Review and approve electrical design drawings, schematics, and specifications for the installation of electrical equipment and control systems.
  • Manage electrical engineering projects from concept through to commissioning, ensuring timely completion within budget and scope.
  • Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, equipment, and controls for plant upgrades or new projects.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the delivery of high-quality electrical equipment and materials.
  • Provide technical leadership in the maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment, minimizing downtime and ensuring optimal performance.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for critical electrical equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose electrical faults, coordinate repairs, and recommend improvements to avoid future failures.
  • Ensure all electrical systems comply with industry standards, local regulations, and company policies for safety and environmental impact.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses, identifying potential electrical safety issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of safety within the electrical team, conducting regular safety audits and training sessions.

  • Lead, mentor an develop a team of electrical engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Ensure team members have the necessary skills and knowledge by providing guidance and training on technical issues, best practices and safety protocols.
  • Continuously evaluate electrical systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement in energy efficiency, reliability and performance.
  • Drive the adoption of new technologies and industry best practices to optimize plant electrical operations.

  • In-depth knowledge of Electrical and Control & Automation System (Plant OT) for Steel Plant Process including related Utility Plant Process and IT/OT and Digitalization.
  • Proven experience with Major Steel Plant Project execution as well Steel Plant Operation & Maintenance.
  • Experience in developing strategies and plans.
  • In depth knowledge of corporate governance principles and managerial best practices.
  • An analytical mind capable for “out-of-the-box” thinking to solve problems.
  • Outstanding organization and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and public speaking skills.

 

Qualifications/Experience

Minimum Qualification

(Educational Qualifications, Trainings, or Certifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in steel, heavy manufacturing, or industrial plant environments.
  • Strong experience in Large Steel manufacturing plant operations is highly desirable.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing engineering teams and cross-functional collaboration.

Preferred professional training

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or Chartered Engineer status is preferred.
  • Additional certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) are a plus.

Experience Recommended

  • Working experience in any of the Middle East countries (familiar with rules and regulations, climatic conditions)
  • Health & Safety compliance systems experience.
