Mechanical Engineer

Role Purpose

The prime objective of the Mechanical Engineer is to Execute and manage all mechanical maintenance activities pertaining to running and stopped equipment’s to his best efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Accountabilities & Activities

Key Activities

  1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Enforcing safety protocols and promoting a culture of safety among plant staff.
    • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
    • Conducting JSA and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Working closely with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, Production/Process Engineers.
    • Communicating effectively with stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities and address operational issues.
    • Participating in meetings to discuss plant performance, goals, and initiatives.
  • Equipment Maintenance
    • Execute and manage all mechanical maintenance activities which includes running & Shutdown.
    • Plans and executes all the maintenance activity defining the priorities and external resources.
    • Allocates resources effectively in improving reliability of equipment.
    • Provides information about all the spares required for carrying out maintenance activity to Planner.
    • Follow-up the execution of programmed maintenance works.
    • Participates in performing breakdown maintenance.
    • Actively take part in Route Cause Analysis to eliminate repeat equipment failures, safety or environmental issues
    • Inputs Planner and Inspector for closing the work order.
    • Inputs planner to write the best work instructions and best practices
    • Strict adherence and knowledge of organizational systems like procedure, instructions etc.,
    • Ensure safe work conditions for mechanical maintenance procedures.
    • Controls the maintenance works and verify the execution according to standards.
    • To maximize operational availability of all equipment with respect to customer demands.
    • Prepare & participate in maintenance budget preparation and ensure budgetary control.
    • Manages the performance of relevant team members (supervisors and technicians), train them, and evaluates their performance in accordance with their Job Profiles KPI’s set.
    • Recommends personnel movement (i.e., Merit increase, promotions, recommendations, cross training, etc.)
    • Enforces policies on attendance, punctuality, shifting schedules, Instructions and Procedures.
    • Participate in the contractor’s appraisal.
    • Participate in the studies for new projects and replacement of equipment’s.
    • Performs any other assignments and tasks related to the business needs of the business unit.

 

  • Emergency Response:
    • Responding promptly to mechanical failures or breakdowns to minimize disruption to operations.
    • Implementing emergency repair procedures to restore equipment functionality.
    • Contributing to contingency planning and disaster recovery efforts.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Training and Development:
    • Providing training to maintenance personnel on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
    • Supporting skills development and knowledge transfer within the mechanical team.
    • Keeping abreast of new technologies and industry trends to enhance skills and knowledge.
