Analyst - HSM Continuous Improvement
General Summary
The plant was commissioned during Q1 2012 and, as a new entrant into the sections market in the GCC, have many challenges to negotiate in terms of personnel, equipment, operational management, and planning, attaining ISO9001/14001/18001 (& possibly CE 89/106/EEC) certification, as well as developing our sales and marketing strategies and tactics.
The plant operates on a 24hr/7day 3 shift operational basis. Our customers expect a high-quality service in terms of accurate and timely deliveries and exceptional product quality. The mill offers a piece count and cut-to-length service with the ability to dispatch to specific customer bundle requirements. The mill has a broad range of products and sizes, the ability to plan and manage a continually changing environment are critical.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)
- To analyse, develop and continually improve the HSM Processes through robust root cause analysis and sustainable solution generation. Responsible for ensuring accurate and effective standard operating procedures and quality systems are implemented for smooth operation of the Plant. Provide the process and product technical information to the operational team. Ensure the plant wide operational systems and processes are fully documented, understand, and controlled – to include consumables and operational spares.
Planning
- Support the HSM Planning department in all Process / Operation / Safety health & environment / Procurement / Project related area to ensure smooth, safe & efficient operation of the HSM.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Responsible for preparing and managing accurate annual budgets for the HSM Operating Budget.
Operation Management
- To monitor the process parameters, analyse and identify the deviations and problems with the equipment’s for timely action.
- To provide daily operating instructions to the staff as communicated by the Manager
- Monitor the consumables and plan timely availability of materials to the HSM
Policies & Procedures
- Preparation and development of operational procedures to ensure the implementation of operational procedures covering all areas of HSM department so that all relevant plant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled with a smooth, safe & efficient operation
Enterprise Resource Planning Actions:
- Preparation of daily monthly reports and update information in SAP for HSM operational data.
- Preparation of basics of delay analysis, analysing charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports.
Project Planning, Execution & controlling:
- Evaluating feasibility for the execution of required plant projects for review by HSM Manager.
Training
- Analyse training gaps and develop training plans for the HSM Operational team and setting monthly/quarterly goals for same.

- Strong IT and Data Analysis and Visualisation skills (SQL/Access, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and basic PC troubleshooting)
- Knowledge of SAP System.
- Thorough knowledge about functions of all areas of a Sections Rolling Mill activity.
- Knowledge about operation and maintenance of Section Mills & related problem solving
- Ability to study and understand engineering drawings.
- Safety Assessment and correlated risks with the process.
- Team building, conflict management, problem solving skills.
Job-Specific Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Mill Order Scheduling, Optimisation and Pacing.
- Strong knowledge on computer systems, reports, data analysis & mining.
- Good knowledge on mill automation Customer Focus & Cost awareness.
- Good knowledge in CAD/CAM tools
