Bundling Operator
General Summary
Operate the tying machines and be able to identify prime and held bundles. Constant monitoring of the binding operation and quick reaction in case of malfunction of the related equipments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)
- To plan for binding wire changing activities.
- To ensure that spare binding wire coils are available at all times.
- Monitoring continuously the tying machines during operation and report any abnormalities noticed to the concerned section immediately.
- Maintaining the cast detail over the bundles. Constant monitoring of bundle weight.
- Maintain the tag printer in good condition and inform concerned if any defect is noticed with printer.
- Maintain the work records in a well documented manner.
- To prepare and print new tags manually in case of regarding of the finished products.
- Clearing of short bars under bar counter during weekly down day.
- To keep the work area always clean and tidy.
- Follow all management directives, regulations and policies relating to safety, quality, health and environment.
- While down day/pass guide time assist to the mill floor staff.
- Housekeeping will be the additional responsibilities from RIRT Roller to bundle finishing area as well as zero level.
- Co-ordinate with Cold Shear operator regarding the special length cutting and make the change in the no. of bars/bundles.
- Short bars not to be mixed into prime bundles.
- If it mixed Wt./mtr/bad section/ no of bars variation in bundles/portrayed bars/bent bar ask for help tags.
- Able to operate the pendant crane after he attend and passed the Safe Cane Operation Course arranged by ESI Training Department.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- To coordinate with Level 2 engineer and Process Engineer if there is any problem with material tracking and label printing.
- To work as cold shear operator in his absence if required.

- Good knowledge in tying machine operation and able to operate manually.
- Basic knowledge in computer.
- Able to identify problem in tying machine.
- Knowledge to use gas cutting equipment.
- Good command of English
- Safety awareness and teamwork.

Key Performance Indicators
- Maximum of one operator’s mistake per month which is creating production delays.
- Reduce the Held bundles per month due to less or excess bars in a bundle inline to the departmental KRA’s / Standards.
- Zero accident and no operational delays.
- Zero complaint from the customer because of tags/short bars.
- Also monitor the cutting of the bars at cold shear and inform the same to the supervisor
