Crane Operator- Overhead- HSM

General Summary

Reporting to Dispatch supervisor responsible to safe operate cab type overhead electro-magnetic bridge crane in the finished product storage bay as assigned to pick up, sort, stack, transport, and transfer finished product materials to and from designated storage and processing areas. Pick up and loading to flatbed trailers or any transport means in accordance with planned material movement and logistics scheduled established practices, procedures and planning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)

  • Ensure efficient & safe handling of finished product, storing or transfer to and from designated locations and loading to trucks at shipping bays.
  • Strictly follow the Loading Plan to correspond with specific customer’s information, location, grade and size of materials for lifting either for dispatch, internal transfer, sorting and disposal.
  • Performs daily shift crane inspections to ensure safe operating conditions as well as other similar or related duties, as assigned in accordance with workload priorities.
  • Exercise care to prevent mixing of products during pick-up, transfer and stacking to offset material handling and sorting difficulties that influence obstacle in subsequent logistics processes.
  • Ensure adequate coordination amongst other crane operators to offset safety incidence and render uninterrupted material flow process and/ or to provide assistance during engineering maintenance activities.P

  • Assist material/inventory controller in special requirement of handling the finished products.
  • Assist material/inventory controller exercising control and monitoring of inventory management, investigation of safety & environment incidents.
  • Assist material/inventory controllers in accomplishing other material handling requirements.

  • Good physical capabilities and health having full use of all four limbs.
  • Ability to determines safety of load, judge distance, height, vision, clearance, hearing, color distinction and reasonable quick reflexes or manual dexterity with close visual attention for sustained periods of time.
  • Basic mechanical/electrical understanding and attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of rigging and safe crane operation.
  • Conversant with hand signals for crane operation and hazards involved in cranes operation.
  • Ability to read and understand verbal and written communications and interpret Loading Plans.
  • Technical knowledge of crane operation and its controls and carry out pre operation checks.

 

Minimum Education Qualifications (Must Haves)      Any preferred professional training (Nice to have)

  • Technical Diploma
  • Technical (Mechanical or electrical) education  
  • Possess UAE appropriate operating license.

 

  • Training in crane operation valid crane driving license.

 

 

Professional Experience (Must haves)                        Previous Experience/exposure Recommendations (Nice to have)

  • 5Years in Heavy Industries in handling heavy material as crane operator.
  • Material Handling in Integrated steel industry or continuous manufacturing experience.

 

  • Experience in operating cranes with lifting magnets

  • Must be aware of and adhere to HSEQ precautions in FP storage/shipping bays and adjacent operations vicinity.

  • Load only the appropriate material specifics and quantity on flat bead trailers as described in the loading documents/information.

  • Perform in an orderly manner all related material movement activities to offset inventory, quality, and safety deviations.

  • Maintain high personal standards of safety and housekeeping. Perform preventative or general maintenance duties during scheduled and non-scheduled mill down time.
