Engineer E&A , Rolling HSM Drives

General Summary: 

Responsible for maintaining and modifying, as per process requirement, HSM drives and Automation systems including the hardware and software and to ensure the smooth functionality of the systems in accordance with HSM process requirement to the correct standard safely and in a timely manner so that plant utilization is maximized 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• System availability: Ensure system availability by maintaining Drives and Automation hardware and software (LV and MV Drives, PLCs, HMIs, CNC machines etc.).

• Software back-up & Historical data: Maintain the latest software back up for level 1 automation systems. Ensure historical data backup and security. Database regular back-up.

• Level 2 integration: Adapt Level 1 software interface to match with Level 2 requirements. Create & maintain new database to match Level 2 requirements.

• Development: Require to constantly focus on development and improvement of the system.

• Work Planning: Review daily electrical and production reports, analyze problem areas and prioritizes them in order of importance so as to prepare daily plans and ensure that plant utilization is maximized.

• Analysis and Reporting: Prepare daily management reports based upon analysis of previous day’s activities so that action plans can be developed to address line stoppage and fault analysis issues and hence improve maintenance service to internal customers.

• Spare parts management: Ensure proper spare parts management. Conduct periodical spare parts audits and update availability in line with budgetary guidelines.

• Production Liaison: Meet with production personnel on a daily basis to discuss and finalize machine shut down schedules and obtain feedback on historical standards of service provision. 

Problem Solving:

Personally provide technical input and hands-on skills to the resolution of major maintenance problems so that line down time is minimized and direct reports advance their technical understanding.

• Performance Review:

Review outstanding jobs and trend analyses on a weekly basis to address underlying reasons for service non-compliance and put in place appropriate action plans to effect correction. 

Budgeting: Prepare data and reports to input into the annual budgeting process so that the company is aware of its likely costs in the Level 1 automation activities.

• National Development Program: Assist in developing U.A.E. national trainees / employees to prepare them ready for acquiring targeted positions in line with IDP developed as per company policies.

• Health, Safety & Environment: Directs, maintain and follow ESI Integrated Management System procedures and guide lines. 

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities (attributes) required To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

• Fully conversant with HSM process.

• In-depth knowledge of Level 1 Automation systems (LV and MV Drives, Motors, PLCs, CNC machines etc) related to HSM process.

• Fair knowledge of electrical and Instrumentation systems of HSM process.

• Fully conversant with tuning, parameterization and maintenance of Siemens / ABB LV and MV drives.

• Fully conversant with Siemens S7 programming and debugging. • Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email, and spreadsheets.

• Ability to work effectively with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), preferably SAP, and instruct others on its operation.

Minimum Education Qualifications (Must Haves)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering.

• Any preferred professional training (Nice to have)

• Trained on Drives and PLC systems related to HSM process.

• Trained on Siemens S7 software programming and debugging. 

Professional Experience (Must haves)

 ▪ In excess of 8-10 years’ Electrical automation experience in HSM for Degree engineers and in excess of 15 years of Electrical & Automation experience for Diploma including 3 years as Level 1 Automation engineer in a Rolling Mill mainly focused on Drives and PLCs.

 Previous Experience/exposure Recommendations (Nice to have)

 • Working experience in any of the Middle-east countries (familiar with rules and regulations, climatic conditions…)

 • Health & Safety compliance systems experience.
