Engineer- Process Metallurgy SMP

General Summary

  • To support all aspects of metallurgical testing and investigation including statistical analysis and evaluation. In-depth review of the steelmaking process through L2 to find-out any deviation from the standard procedures that could lead to casting defects.
  • To review the operational data for steel making (EAF, LRF &CCM) on a regularly basis, analyze and evaluate the efficiency of steel making. Analyze failure details and root causes, suggest engineering improvements and follow up for the implementation. In addition, suggest new ideas / Technologies to enhance plant and process performance (quality, production, maintenance, safety etc.)

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)

  • Setting chemistries for steel grades
  • Optimization of mechanical properties with respect to Chemistry. Rolling Temp & cooling pattern.
  • Analyze Quality performance data and initiate corrective/preventive actions
  • Periodically review inspection plans and testing procedures to confirm their capability to achieve intended results
  • Conducts activities for the new product development along with metallurgy department team.
  • Provide leadership for the Mechanical Property Testing and Metallographic Laboratories in the steel plant.
  • Provide technical and metallurgical support to steel melting shop and rolling mill processes
  • Provide technical assistance to sales and marketing
  • Design and develops the Metallurgical product and processes.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assure delivery of quality products to customers. Supervise and manage the related technical resolution of customer complaints
  • Attending customer complaints, route cause analysis of complaints and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage the budget of the metallographic lab, and to evaluate new equipment and testing processes for improved safety, quality and efficiency.
  • National Development Program: Assist in developing UAE National employees in their respective areas and prepare them for acquiring targeted positions.
  • Research: Assist in research initiatives in case of new invented process/product or quality.
  • Other responsibilities and activities related to metallurgy assigned by the Metallurgy Manager

 

Minimum Education Qualifications (Must Haves)

    Preferred professional training (Nice to have)

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Metallurgy with curriculum emphasis on ferrous metallurgy

 

  • Metallurgy & Quality Management Certifications

Professional Experience (Must Haves)

Experience Recommended (Nice to have)

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in steelmaking metallurgy as a process engineer.
