Inspector - Quality Control RM4
Role Purpose:
Routine inspection and classification of semi-finished and finished products as per specified standards/related specifications.
Resbonsiblities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)
In Line Inspection at Mills
•Inline inspection and classification of the rolled product as per standard.
•Report non-conformities immediately to the mills for corrective action to minimize production of non-confirming product.
•Shall be responsible for performing all inspection functions, identification, and segregation of Nonconforming items, as specified in the Emirates Steel QS Program to ensure compliance to applicable Standards, ASME Code and Customer requirements.
Sampling
•Provide samples at specified frequency for testing as per specification.
•Inspect components or assemblies and perform final checks on completed products, if required.
Re-inspection of Held Material
•Carry out re-inspection after rectification/retesting to classify.
•Re inspection to also record the results of inspection, calculate the number of defects, and prepare inspection and test reports.
Inspection of Billets
•To carry out random dimensional check, surface defects and verify the chemical analysis results on billets to assign the grades.
•Locate the cause of defects and correct production problems.
SAP Data Entry & Release
•Enter the inspection data in the SAP and make usage decision.
Safety Health & Environment
•To maintain and comply with the company safety, health & environmental aspects at the workplaces to avoid injuries, damage to equipment/environment.
System Adequacy
•Adherence of Quality Systems such as IMS, ISO17025 as per company’s testing standard requirements, procedures, and work instructions.
Problem Reporting
•Report any problems related to the quality of rebar, rebar in coil, or wire rod to the Line Manager/Superior/Operation Supervisor and Superiors to ensure timely action and smooth sampling operations.
•Prepare reports for defined cases and any ad-hoc cases as requested by superiors and communicate the findings and any problems through formal email to the concerned departments.
NQA Responsibility
•The Quality Control Inspectors (QC Inspectors) report to the Inspection & Testing Supervisor but shall report directly to the Manager-Inspection & Testing in the absence of the Inspection & Testing Supervisor, and shall be responsible for performing all inspection activities, as specified in the QP.
•The Quality Control Inspectors shall bring to the attention of the Inspection & Testing Supervisor any deviations that affect quality.
•The Quality Control Inspectors shall ensure that nonconforming items are identified, reported and segregated in accordance with Section 7.0 of this NQA Manual.
Assignment, Flexibility & Compliance with Instructions
•The Quality Control Inspector is required to perform all duties assigned by the Line Manager, including but not limited to safety, 5S implementation, housekeeping, and cleaning activities, in full compliance with company standards.
•The Quality Control Inspector shall be deployed and reported across any rebar or wire rod mills under Emirates Steel Industries PJSC, as per operational requirements.
Addetional duties and resbonsibilties:
As assigned by the department on time-to-time basis as required.
Ensure Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
Support the promotion of a strong safety culture by actively participating in safety initiatives and fostering safe work practices. Assist in managing safety risks, monitoring equipment,and contributing to performance outcomes. Ensure compliance with EHSlegislative requirements and the companys EHS policies, procedures and standards among the team members and contractors.
Minimum Qualification (Educational Qualifications, Trainings, or Certifications)
Diploma in metallurgy / mechanical or graduate of science
alternatively, demonstrated competency in steel inspection and testing more than total 6 year experience in Steel Industry is acceptable for internal promotions and after passing all required tests.
•Computer skills
•Knowledge of different specifications of reinforcing bars and wire rod coils.
•Knowledge of defects in semi-finished and finished products.
•Knowledge of steel making and processing
Professional Experience
2-5 years in similar position in integrated steel plant
Related experience in rebar mills and wire rod products
