General Summary

Planning the refractory lining activities for the furnace shells, ladles & tundishes. Organizing the necessary refractory consumables and tools required to effectively carry out the lining activities. Coordinating with subordinates to ensure that the execution meets the planned requirement and comply with Company safety policies. Budgeting and cost control, to ensure the cost elements are within the approved budgetary figures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To assist Melt Shop Operation Manager in all technical areas related to refractories, aiming to ensure smooth plant operations.  To ensure the support required for Operations to carry out smooth production, to achieve corporate goals.  To build and ensure availability of motivated workforce, to carry out the activities of the refractory section.  To plan and propose accurate annual budget required to effectively implement the corporate operational plan.  To effectively manage requirement of production within the allocated and approved budgetary provisions to ensure cost effectiveness  To impart knowledge building trainings to subordinates so that overall growth of the section is ensured.  Helps in building safety related work instructions and ensures that all safety features in the section are working. Interprets Company policy to subordinates to enforce safety regulations.  Ensures that work area is maintained clean and free of any obstacles or encumbrances.  Responsible for resolving any critical technical/logistic problem related to the Refractory section.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities(Contd)

Develop suppliers for spares, consumables, and refractories to minimize lead times and optimize stock, aiming at optimizing production cost.  Develops work instructions and operational standards, ensuring that all employees within the section adheres to these work instructions, to guarantee a quality and safe job.  Directly works with IFAC standard-setting boards, and other standard setting bodies, to ensure that they are aware of and give due consideration to issues relevant to SMPs.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities required

In-depth technical knowledge of steelmaking refractories  Good knowledge of engineering drawings  Knowledge of and ability to manage budget costs  Communication skills

Minimum Education Qualification (Education Degree)

Bachelor in Degree or Engineering

Any preferred professional training

In-depth technical knowledge of steelmaking and associated refractories

Professional Experience (Must haves)

Around 10-15 Years in a Steel Plant as a Head of Refractory or 15 years as a Refractory Supervisor

Previous Experience/exposure Recommendations

Around 10 years with a mini mill producing steel using Hot DRI/ Scrap
