General Summary

Band saw Operator is responsible for Operating and controlling the material moving on the roller table & the proper length is identified & marked properly. In addition, the employee shall ensure the proper positioning of the material executing the cut to ensure the cutting is as per plan/information given according to the customer requirement. Also, the employee shall ensure to inform the related responsible about prime bars & bad quality bars & send it to the designated.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• To operate the Band saw as per standard working procedures & ensure not to cause any damages to the equipment’s.
• Always observe & monitor machine setting data. observe material/machine movement & ensure required length will be cut accurately.
• Ensure optimal operating conditions of the saw and to reduce the breakdowns.
• To be aware of safe operating procedures required to start, operate, stop/shutdown of the Cold saw equipment & Mobilizing-immobilizing the area.
• Monitor all Cold saw & the related area equipment’s for any malfunction, defects or faults and give feedback to required personnel & to the senior.
• Ensure that all the tracking of the bars are properly moving along the bars. No bars should go to stacker area without tracking.
• Observe the performance of Blades & change them per requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities(Contd)

• Housekeeping & Scale cleaning in and around Cold saw area, assist with crane operator for scrap length removal whenever required & especially during long crops, down day/shut down.
• Demonstrate and improve production processes to ensure greater mill efficiency.
• Maintain detail records of Blades in use at the saws in a well-documented manner & maintain the documents in a designated location.
• Maintain high personal standards of safety and housekeeping always & ensure the flammable material should be removed from all around the Cold saw area.
• To keep the work area always clean and tidy outside as well as inside the pulpit.
• Help the stacker in processing Gagged material for re-bundling whenever required.
• Ensure to move the re-straightening material in safe & quick way while reversing to RSM.
• To be aware of safe procedures required for starting, operating and stop/shutdown the Cold saw equipment & Mobilizing-immobilizing the area.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Able to identify malfunctioning of the equipment and give proper feedback to maintenance crew.
• Follow all management directives, regulations and policies relating to safety, quality, health and environment.
• Explain in detail & Train the trainees allocated to your area

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning of the equipment & the area during stoppage and down periods.
• Learn and assist with rectification controller duties during any stoppage of Band saw

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities required

• Knowledge on basic operations of band saw operation.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic knowledge on changing of Band saw Blade.
• Operation of the remote crane if required.
• Good written and spoken English skills.
• Good Communication skills.
• Attentive to watch all the area, Band saw, its control panel & other indicators to make sure the machine is working properly.
• Required lengths need to be marked manually & cut it accordingly to fulfill the requirement.
• Try to utilize all the length & minimize the generation of the waste.

Minimum Education Qualification (Education Degree)

Any preferred professional training

• Diploma in Mechanical or any field
• Computer basic knowledge & skills

Professional Experience (Must haves)

• Minimum 3-5 years’ Experience as Band saw Operator.

Previous Experience/exposure Recommendations

• Crane driving license

Slinging/Rigging course

• Plan & prepare the material & cut as per requirement safely within specified time
• Eliminate short length cutting & scrapping due to improper measurement
• To minimize the Blade wear & tear by selecting best suitable speeds & parameters.
• Communicate to responsible persons once the job is done.
• Clear the area from short lengths & maintain housekeeping.
• Identify & report the near-miss, Hazards & work safely to achieve zero accident /incidents.
