Project Lead- Projects

Role Purpose

 The Project Lead Projects supports the Director Project Engineering in planning, coordinating, and executing EPC and non‑EPC projects within Emirates Steel. The role ensures project activities are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with ES engineering standards, governance processes, and strategic objectives.

 

Accountability & Activities

Key Activities

Project Planning & Coordination

  • Lead the preparation of project plans, schedules, budgets, and cash‑flow forecasts in coordination with relevant departments.
  • Support the development of business cases, feasibility studies, and sensitivity analyses for proposed projects.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to compile technical, financial, and operational data required for project evaluation and planning.

Project Execution & Monitoring

  • Oversee day‑to‑day project activities to ensure compliance with approved scope, timelines, and cost parameters.
  • Monitor project progress, identify deviations, and escalate issues to the Director Project Engineering with recommended corrective actions.
  • Ensure all project documentation, communication, and reporting follow ES’s Integrated Management System standards.

Technical & Engineering Support

  • Assist in preparing technical specifications, Invitations to Tender, and techno‑commercial bid evaluations.
  • Coordinate with technology suppliers, engineering consultants, and contractors to ensure alignment with ES engineering standards.
  • Support the development of basic engineering packages, site layouts, and process route assessments.

Governance, Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure project activities comply with ES’s safety, quality, health, and environmental policies and governmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular site visits and support safety and behavioural audits across project locations.
  • Maintain accurate project records, correspondence, and documentation in line with ES governance requirements.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and internal departments to ensure smooth project communication and coordination.
  • Support tendering processes, clarifications, and vendor evaluations to ensure transparent and compliant procurement activities.
  • Facilitate timely communication and secure transmission of project documents to relevant stakeholders.

Safety, Quality & Environment

  • Ensure compliance to all relevant management policies, procedures, and controls within the ESA to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.

 

Qualifications/Experience

Minimum Qualification

(Educational Qualifications, Trainings, or Certifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).

Professional Experience

  • 10 years of experience in project engineering, project coordination, or EPC project execution.
  • Experience in steel, heavy industry, or large‑scale industrial projects preferred.

 Project schedule adherence — ≥ 95% of project milestones achieved on or before planned dates.

Budget compliance — Maintain project delivery within ±5% of approved budget.
