General Summary

Routine inspection and classification of semi-finished and finished products as per specified standards/related specifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In Line Inspection at Mills

  • Inline inspection and classification of the rolled product as per standard.
  • Report non conformities immediately to the mills for corrective action to minimize production of non-confirming product.
  • Shall be responsible for performing all inspection functions, identification, and segregation of Nonconforming items, as specified in the Emirates Steel QS Program to ensure compliance to applicable Standards, ASME Code and Customer requirements.

Sampling

  • Provide samples at specified frequency for testing as per specification.
  • Inspect components or assemblies and perform final checks on completed products, if required.

Re-inspection of Held Material

  • Carry out re-inspection after rectification/retesting to classify.
  • Re inspection to also record the results of inspection, calculate the number of defects, and prepare inspection and test reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities(Contd)

Inspection of Billets

  • To carry out random dimensional check, surface defects and verify the chemical analysis results on billets to assign the grades.
  • Locate the cause of defects and correct production problems.

SAP Data Entry & Release

  • Enter the inspection data in the SAP and make usage decision.

Safety Health & Environment

To maintain and comply with the company safety, health & environmental aspects at the workplaces to avoid injuries, damage to equipment/environment.

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

 

System Adequacy

Implementation of ISO 17025 as per company’s testing standard requirement, procedures, and work instructions.

NQA Responsibility

  • The Quality Control Inspectors (QC Inspectors) report to the QC Supervisor but shall report directly to the Head of QC in the absence of the QC Supervisor, and shall be responsible for performing all inspection activities, as specified in the QP.
  • The Quality Control Inspectors shall bring to the attention of the QC Supervisor any deviations that affect quality.
  • The Quality Control Inspectors shall ensure that nonconforming items are identified, reported and segregated in accordance with Section 7.0 of this NQA Manual.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities required

  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 standard requirements
  • Computer skills – SAP user knowledge
  • Keen observation and detection skills

Minimum Education Qualification (Education Degree)

Diploma

Any preferred professional training

  • Diploma in metallurgy or mechanical or graduate of science
  • Computer skills
  • Knowledge of different specifications of reinforcing bars and wire rod coils.
  • Knowledge of defects in semi-finished and finished products.
  • Knowledge of steel making and processing.

Professional Experience (Must haves)

2-5 years experience in similar position in integrated steel plant
