General Summary
To identify, cut and collect samples from rolling mills and stock yard at specified frequency as per requirements and deliver to mechanical testing lab with proper identification for testing of the product to ensure quality as per ESI specification. To assist the quality Inspector in reporting defects observed if any.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collection of Samples
- To cut and deliver to mechanical testing lab samples cast wise with proper ID as per quality plan.
Collect Samples for Retest
- To collect and deliver retest samples from yard to mechanical testing lab with proper ID to enable decision making on held bundles/coils.
Assist in Maintenance of Lab Equipment
- Assist in carrying out weekly maintenance of mechanical testing lab equipment
System Adequacy
Adherence of Quality Systems such as IMS, ISO17025 as per company’s testing standard requirements, procedures, and work instructions.

Problem Reporting
- Report problems faced to his superior to ensure smooth collection of samples from mills
Safety, Health & Environment
- To maintain and comply with the company safety, health & environmental aspects at the workplaces to avoid injuries, damage to equipment/environment
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Macro etching of purchased and produced billets
- Other jobs as per requirement
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities required
- Knowledge of ISO17025 standard requirements
- Computer skills
- Learning skills
- Safety culture in workplace.
Minimum Education Qualification (Education Degree)
Any preferred professional training
- ITI or Diploma
- nowledge of gas cutting
- Knowledge of identification of the product
- Identification of location of material
Professional Experience (Must haves)
2-5 years in mechanical workshops/ gas cutting or welding shop
Previous Experience/exposure Recommendations
Similar experience in rolling mills in collection of samples.
