Section Head DRP & Jetty

General Summary

Plan and Organize for efficient Jetty, conveyors, stackers operations for safe receipt, store and supply raw material, remet, DRI etc. to fulfill DRP/SMP operations without production interruptions. Overall in-charge of barge discharging operation, self unloading barges unload material directly into a hopper at ES Jetty and then material flow over the tail end of the conveyor (12 km long) leading to the plant site. Responsible in planning, directing and coordinating both phases of works through functional supervisory personnel, assigned activities to various work groups and ensuring maintenance of structures, facilities, and associated Material Handling System including Belt Conveyor, Hopper, Stacker & Reclaimer etc. Ensuring least interference production activity by effective handling and disposal of wastes & byproduct and extract maximum yield from byproducts. Accountable for devising, implementing and monitoring systems for wastes, byproducts, safety of men and equipment. Plan, organize and dispatch by products of DRP (Oxide Fines/ Sludge/DRI Fines).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)

Jetty Operations:

  • Responsible for ensuring, that all activities carried out in the jetty areas, are undertaken in a safe and environmentally correct manner, and to strive for zero accidents and near misses. Manage operations in compliance with ES Terminal Operating Policies and Procedures.
  • Manage and maintain the jetty to meet the quality and safety standards as set down by the ES terminal operating policies and procedures.
  • Carryout daily jetty operations in accordance with goals to achieve maximum efficiency, and to ensure that iron Oxide pellet enter and leave the jetty area to storage yard with minimal loss, and product (IOP) integrity intact.
  • Coordinate with ES Shipping and Logistics & Abu Dhabi Ports for Jetty Inspection and Audits.

 

 

Plant Operations:

  • Prepare annual budget and monitor, control expenditure against annual budget.
  • Ensure supply of raw materials to DR day bins by means of reclaimer equipment and belt conveyor system as per quantity and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with MH Supervisor for material supplying to DR plant as per operation requirements.
  • Ensure routine inspection, adjustment, checking and cleaning of equipment’s in order to ensure safe operation and unplanned interruptions are minimized.
  • Liaise with Maintenance Departments to maintain availability of equipment in order to ensure optimum operational status.
  • Co-ordinate with other section throughout the production process in order to ensure effective integration of material handling activity so that the production plan is fulfilled.
  • Ensure Sales targets are met by efficient loading of dispatch vehicles, whenever required.
  • Liaise with and follow up with consultant, Project Manager, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Coordinate and monitor MH contractor activities for fulfilment of contractual obligations.
  • Organise and manage human resources to ensure development of employees competence with high work morale and foster team work.
  • Ensure discipline is maintained amongst employees and contractors
  • Improve on operational efficiency, monitor and control overtime claims as appropriate.
  • Support engineer in project activity and technical studies in order to contribute to the ongoing improvement and development of the operation.
  • Initiate site improvements to optimise safe and effective plant operations.
  • Ensure sectional expenditure is with in approved budgets.

 

Materials & Yard Management:

  • Coordinate with contractors & adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Monitor performance of the contractor to ensure material handling targets are achieved in the most efficient manner.

 

By-Products & Waste Management Activities:

  • Ensure efficient & safe collection, transportation, segregation and stacking of waste & by-products related to DRP’s for uninterrupted production processes.
  • Coordinate activities through MH Contractor in accordance with contractual obligations.
  • Ensure activities conform to the approved IMS procedures, and carry out reviews as per schedule.
  • Ensure sectional activities are executed complying to Safety, Environment, Occupational health aspects.

 

Policies & Procedures:

  • Ensure the inventory records of Jetty and DRP tally with physical stock.
  • Ensure methods, systems & practices for maximum yield from Jetty and DRP raw material & Semi finished with focus on internal and external customers.
  • Check and continuously review operating and safety standards and procedures, updating and modifying as appropriate.

 

Health Safety & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure efficient & safe collection, transportation and stacking of Jetty and DRP Finished goods for uninterrupted production processes
  • Ensure compliance to Safety, quality, Environment and other regulatory requirement.
  • Developing, implement and monitor systems, procedure and practices for IMS.
  • Ensure sectional activities are executed complying to Safety, Environment, occupational health aspects.
  • Enforcement of safety rules and regulations reduces accidents and product damage. Regular patrols of hazardous material areas for unsafe conditions, helps to avoid fires and employee injuries.

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist department head on special tasks.
  • Assist department head in managing contractors, safety, environment amongst sections and contractors, etc.
  • Assist Dept head in development of departmental objectives, action plans, manpower deployment etc.

  • Communication, leadership, administrative  and coordination Skills
  • Basic knowledge of Safety and environmental aspects of handling Jetty & DRP Integrated steel plant.
  • Ability to deal with  regulatory bodies on dealing especially on Environment related issues
  • Awareness & compliance skills of regulatory and integrated management system requirements
  • Management of Human resources with focus on involvement, participation and motivation to build dedicated team spirit amongst employees.
  • Experienced in working in computerized work environment and inventory management including First In First Out (FIFO) and tracking movement of Finished goods
  • Develop and implement action plans and objectives to accomplish company’s goals with respect to Inventory, budgetary, manpower and contractor’s management.
  • Awareness and interpretation and compliance of Environmental and safety regulations

 

 

Minimum Education Qualifications (Must Haves)      Any preferred professional training (Nice to have)

  • University degree in Engineering or diploma degree from Engineering Institute (industrial /Mechanical Full Time course )
  • Post diploma courses in material handling or Environment and safety management
  • Lead accessory( Auditor) of EMS & ISO standards
