General Summary

Maintain and control the quality of finished coils to guarantee its conformity to product standards. To change passes/rings and guides on fast finishing block according to size rolled.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Assist in planning for pass/size changing activities in most efficient manner.

· To change passes/rings and guides on fast finishing block.

· Routine inspection and checking of finished product quality.

· To guide and help the team members in technical matters.

· Ensure effective achievement of departmental objectives through leadership and demonstration of good teamwork skills.

· To keep the work area always clean and tidy.

· Follow all management directives, regulations and policies relating to safety, quality, health and environment.

To act as Shift Supervisor in the absence of regular supervisor

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

· Good knowledge about rolling process in a long product rolling mill.

· Basic computer skills.

· Strong skills in problem solving and troubleshooting related to rolling mills production activities.

· Thorough knowledge to use precision measuring instruments.

· Knowledge about finished products quality and tolerances.

· Able to use gas cutting torch when clearing cobbles.

· Good knowledge in high speed block mill setting and operation activities.

· Safety awareness and teamwork.

· Able to operate the pendant crane after he attend and passed the Safe Cane Operation Course arranged by ESI Training Department.

Minimum Education Qualification (Education Degree)

Diploma

Any preferred professional training

Diploma in Mechanical or Metallurgical engineering.

Basics of roll pass design.

Professional Experience (Must haves)

Minimum of 8 years experience as Roller Operator in a long product rolling mil.

Previous Experience/exposure Recommendations

Work experience in high speed block mill operation.

Key Performance Indicators

· Maximum of four non-prime coils per month – failure of not maintaining -3.5% weight tolerances.

· Minimum of two cobbles per month in finishing block.

· Zero accident and no operation delays

· Strictly follow health & safety procedures.
