Senior Specialist Risk Management

Role Purpose

The Senior Specialist – Risk, BCM & Crisis Management is a cross-functional role supporting the organisation to protect what matters most and enable the business to succeed. Working across enterprise risk, business continuity and crisis management, the role translates insight into practical action, strengthens readiness and resilience, and helps business teams make informed decisions. Risk management is approached as value management: protecting value, reducing loss and enabling opportunities to be pursued with confidence.

 

Accountability & Activities

Key Activities

  1.  

Enterprise Risk Management, BCM & Crisis Management

  • Facilitate enterprise-wide risk identification, assessment, and evaluation workshops across all business functions.
  • Maintain, update, and enhance enterprise and departmental risk registers to ensure completeness, accuracy, and alignment with EMSTEEL’s strategic objectives.
  • Review, consolidate, and optimize risk registers, controls, and mitigation actions to achieve a minimum of 80% rationalization and effectiveness.
  • Support the development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of risk mitigation plans.
  • Develop and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) in coordination with business stakeholders
  • Assist with Business Impact Analysis (BIA), including mapping critical processes, dependencies, and recovery requirements (RTO/RPO).
  • Support the development, review, and periodic update of business continuity plans (BCPs) and crisis management/incident response playbooks.
  • Coordinate BCM testing and exercising (tabletop, walkthrough, and simulation), document results, and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Maintain Risk and BCM documentation, dashboards, and reports (e.g., Risk updates, BIA status, exercise outcomes) and provide periodic updates to management/governance forums.
  • Other duties as assigned by line manager.

Cross-Functional Risk & Value Support

  • Support compliance, fraud and other cross-functional risk assessments, documenting value at stake, findings, control gaps and practical improvement actions.
  • Identify, document, and track applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Support continuous monitoring, issue tracking and remediation follow-up, with compliance achieved as a by-product of effective risk and value management.

Training & Awareness

  • Develop and deliver risk training and awareness sessions for risk champions, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Support initiatives that strengthen risk ownership, readiness, resilience and a practical value-focused culture across the organisation.

 

Qualifications/Experience

Minimum Qualification

(Educational Qualifications, Trainings, or Certifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Law, Health and Safety, Emergency Management, or another relevant field.
  • Relevant professional certification in risk management, business continuity, crisis management, emergency management, health and safety, governance or a related discipline is preferred, but not essential.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience. Experience may come from risk management, business continuity, crisis management, health and safety, operations, governance, compliance or another relevant discipline.
  • Practical experience in one or more relevant disciplines is valued; candidates are not expected to be experts across risk management, business continuity and crisis management.
  • Strong digital capability, including Microsoft Office tools; experience with Power BI, GRC platforms or workflow automation is an advantage.
  • Industry or operational experience, particularly in a complex industrial environment, is a significant advantage. Proven ability to work across functions, manage priorities and deliver practical results.
