Technician-Utility Mechanical

General Summary

All maintenance jobs are executed, and problems are overcome in a timely manner to provide technical support to the Utility & Water Plants Maintenance. Identification of equipment troubles and finding suitable remedial measures, in order to support the achievement of uninterrupted utilities supply. Maintenance technicians will have responsibility for maintenance and condition monitoring of utility and water plant area assets

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)

Maintenance Planning and execution: All Utility and Water Plants

• Planning and coordination of preventive, corrective, maintenance activity for utilities & water plants based on trouble list and schedule.
• Liaise utility operation groups on an ongoing basis to ensure effective co-ordination of maintenance activity
• Responsible for execution of maintenance as per daily / weekly maintenance plan to optimize production & reduce downtime
• Co-ordination with central repair shop or contractor for carrying out maintenance and follows up the performance evaluation of equipment after maintenance and hand over of equipment with clean records of maintenance.
• Preparing spare part list, registration and keep the specification updated for spare purchasing.
• Plan for spare and material required for maintenance plant wise based on maintenance history.
• Prepare maintenance records and asset maintenance history for al assets of utility plants for future maintenance planning.
• Performs assigned tasks of maintenance or special jobs under the supervision of maintenance supervisor

Trouble Shooting:

• Use specialist maintenance skills and techniques to solve technical plant and maintenance problems in  order to support the achievement of uninterrupted utilities supply
• Acts as a support to maintenance group on non – routine plant and process problems.
• Execute permanent countermeasures, as per plan to prevent occurrence of repetitive problems.
• Report any problem affecting the production to the superiors to ensure proper information flow and speedy resolution.
• Identify and propose, technical improvements or developments based on maintenance requirements of assets, execute approved plans as appropriate in order to support the continual technical improvement  of utilities & water plants and processes
• Make modifications / adaptations to plant / process / maintenance procedures in order to achieve optimum solutions to technical problems

Safety, Quality & Environment:

• Executes all relevant safety, quality, health and environmental management policies of the company and department and comply to all relevant safety, quality, health and environmental management policies, procedures
• Reviews the safety standards for maintenance, in the Utility and Water plants and assist in establishing new standards / procedures, whenever necessary
• Participates in the departmental safety training and report on all safety, health, fire fighting related issues.
• follow permit to work procedures and ensure area clearance for maintenance work

Leadership:

• Carry out task of maintenance allocated with group of people.
• Assist in Planning for diversifying the spare parts supply from other suppliers for having minimized inventory as well lower maintenance cost for plant.
• Work as task force leader for carrying out group of tasks during maintenance period or shutdown.

Organization Development:

• Regular attendance to work and reporting to supervisor.
• Communication with other operatives and supervisor for interplant activities.
• Communication and co-operation with maintenance personnel for carrying out the maintenance job in the plant area.
• Follow the instructions and any other assigned jobs from supervisor.

Policies, Procedures & Operation standards:

• Assist to supervisor in preparing maintenance procedure drafts.
• Understand and follow the company safety and health policy.
• Execution of standard maintenance procedures in all utility plant areas so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Preparation of Bill Of Materials for new equipments
