Plant Mechanic

 

Role Purpose

A Plant Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall functioning of mechanical equipment and machinery in a plant or industrial setting. This role ensures that all mechanical systems operate efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall productivity and operational success of the facility

 

Accountability & Activities

Key Activities

 

  • Perform routine maintenance on plant machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and determine appropriate repair methods.
  • Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Conduct inspections and tests to ensure machinery operates correctly.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams.
  • Maintain records of maintenance and repair work.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff and plant operators to ensure smooth operations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Order and maintain inventory of spare parts and tools.

Safety, Quality & Environment

  • Ensure compliance to all relevant management policies, procedures, and controls within the Projects division of ESA to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications/Experience

Minimum Qualification

(Educational Qualifications, Trainings, or Certifications)

  • Diploma /Vocational training or certification in mechanical maintenance or a related field 

Professional Experience

  • At least 2-3 years of experience as a mechanic in an industrial or process industry.
  • Certification in specific types of plant machinery or equipment.
  • Advanced technical training in hydraulics, pneumatics, or electrical systems.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance techniques and tools.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Experience in a similar industry, such as manufacturing, power generation, or processing plants.
